Movie Review: Birds of Prey (2020)

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) is one of the most fun flicks I've seen in a theater in a long time. This is a kick-ass, violent technicolor stream of strong women overcoming their abuse cycles to come together and win the day. It's well-conceived, well-written, and executed far better than many comic-book team-ups before it.

The Batman at WonderCon

DC Comics celebrated Batman 80 in a big way at this year’s WonderCon, the sibling convention to San Diego International Comic-Con. With the milestone release of the 1,000th issue of Detective comics on March 27 and the 80-year anniversary of one of (if not the) most well-known characters in comics, it was a perfect time to party with the bat.

Despite being a huge fan of DC Comics and related properties, when DC Universe was announced, I was skeptical. After all, how many streaming content services do people really need? But now, after previewing the content that will be available, I'm convinced it will be worth the expense. I know I'll be subscribing and eagerly awaiting the launch this September.

As a huge DC Comics fan, WonderCon had so much to see and do (more than I could get to) and I was in comic heaven. It's a good time to be a DC fan (just don't talk to me about the movies, okay?). And with the Black Label books set to release around August, there's bound to be loads more great announcements coming out of DC Comics. What are you most excited about seeing?

Thanks to a wonderful moment at Wonder Con (meeting Patty Jenkins at a Wonder Woman meet-up), I had the opportunity to attend the premiere of Wonder Woman in Los Angeles, California on May 25th. If you follow me on social media, you already know I LOVED the movie. But due to the review embargo, I couldn’t tell you why I loved it so much. Now I can! Read Meghan's thoughts on the new Wonder Woman film, spoiler free.
