Welcome to spooky season! It’s always hard to narrow down the possibilities when it comes to Halloween and cross stitch. We wanted something that was in line with the theme of our Hallowiggles Halloween Party later this month – Phantasmagoria. If you had to Google what that is (like me), the definition is “a sequence of real or imaginary images like those seen in a dream.” It also describes a form of horror theater used in the late 18th century and 19th century that would project terrifying imagery by use of lanterns and other techniques.

What better suits that definition than a ghostly apparition carrying a lantern?

Supplies

  • 14 or 16 count Aida canvas (anything larger than 3″ x 3″) – Black or off-white canvas would be preferable
  • Canvas hoop
  • Tapestry needle, size 22-26
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery floss
    • Dark grey, light grey, white, yellow, orange, red
  • Access to printer or phone/computer to view pattern

Line the middle of the pattern, which is at 17 across and 17 down, with the middle of your canvas.
