This March, the International Geek Girl Pen Pal Club (IGGPPC) celebrates ten years of snail mail and international friendships. Founded in March 2013, the club was designed to bring together the nerd community through shared interests in all things geeky, a love of stationery, and an interest in making friends. Since its inception, IGGPPC has paired over 30,000 pen pals representing over 120 countries around the world. Pen pals are matched based on shared interests, or their “top 5 geek loves”, and are hand paired by IGGPPC staff. We’re proud to know that many of our pen pals have found life-long friendships through the IGGPPC, and some have even travelled overseas to meet each other!
Since that first pen pal registration, we’ve grown to a large and welcoming community. IGGPPC includes a vibrant Discord server, a podcast called Charm Bomb, and annual events such as our popular IGGPPCamp each August, that help foster connections worldwide and provide a respite from the stress of day-to-day with a bit of fun creativity. Our club has brought together geeks of all ages and backgrounds to help them connect in traditional and non-traditional ways. We’re proud to be spreading positivity and friendship, and fostering a loving community online and offline. You can learn more by visiting our about page (https://geekgirlpenpals.com/about/ ) or find us across social media.
