When is your birthday?
January 1

What is your favorite type of cake?
Yes. No lemon cake, though.

What was your favorite toy as a 6 year old?
I was very into She-Ra and Rainbow Brite, so I definitely remember playing with those a lot.

Could you read before you began Kindergarten (or equivalent school level at age 6)?
The teacher taught me how to read while the other kids had naptime.

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
I remember making my own newspapers and delivering them to our neighbors, and playing Office…filling up my mug with hot water to drink my coffee. ? I also had my own cooking show, where I used crayon shavings (from the built in sharpener) as my ingredients. (I’m an only child…I got creative.)

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
Getting to DRIVE A CAR was the coolest thing! Today I have moments where I think it’s so weird that I can do these things like driving or going to work. Like, why did we think it was such a cool thing?! ?

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!
I had to ask my mom about this, and no did not.

When is your birthday?
July 13

What is your favorite type of cake?
Vanilla – vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream. Sounds boring but if it’s quality cake and frosting, it’s incredible!

What was your favorite toy as a 6 year old?
Probably Barbie. I had quite the collection.

Could you read before you began Kindergarten (or equivalent school level at age 6)?
Yes. My parents read to us a lot growing up. I was quick to take up reading and would devour books throughout my childhood (now I don’t seem to have the time to do this!)

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
Probably be a teacher. I enjoyed playing ‘school’ with my younger brothers and stuffed animals.

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
Driving would be and is fun.

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!
I don’t remember ever having one. I did believe my stuffed animals had feelings though.

What is your favorite type of cake?
pineapple upsidedown cake

A pen, one of my drawing notebooks, and my imagination.

Could you read before you began Kindergarten (or equivalent school level at age 6)?
Apparently so.

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
Infectious Disease Pediatrician, just like my pops!

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
That I would know EVERYTHING. It is definitely not true. Everyone knows that adults are in actuality completely clueless.

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!
Not exactly, but one summer when I was probably ten, I concocted an elusive, magical creature called the “Unicorn Fairy”. I told my much younger friend (who has essentially always been like a little sister to me) that this creature was real and worked kind of like Santa. The Unicorn Fairy would leave her sparkly jelly worm fishing lures in return for piles of change. She bought it for at least a year.

September 10

What is your favorite type of cake?
Spice cake with vanilla or maple buttercream but I actually prefer pie.

I genuinely don’t remember. I feel like no??

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
I wanted to be a bus-driving nun who bagged groceries at the local store and made pizza at Pizanello’s. I have never been good at making decisions, obviously.

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
I didn’t think grown-ups could climb trees. I nearly had a heart attack when my mom hid in a tree during a game of Ghost in the Graveyard.

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!
Hahahahahaha! Yes! I, 4 years younger than my nearest sibling, played alone quite a lot. I had an entire CLASSROOM of imaginary friends and was, of course, the most popular. My best friend was named Sinny (That’s not a typo of Sunny, her name was Sinny). My imaginary teacher, Mrs. Calley, went to jail for doing drugs.

Yellow cake with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles!

A bug catching kit. I took that thing all over the back yard.

Could you read before you began Kindergarten (or equivalent school level at age 6)?
Yes! I learned to read when I was four so that I could read the Narnia books for myself. My preschool teachers thought I was, um, “interesting” because I used really outdated British expressions….as a preschool kid….in Georgia. ?

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
I wanted to be a ballet dancing astronaut paleontologist. Very specific.

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
I thought grownups could buy anything they wanted. Then I grew up and discovered bills. Whoops.

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!
Sooooo I didn’t so much have an imaginary friend as an imaginary cast of characters. They first developed around age 6 and back then were mostly based on tv characters I liked, but I combined them into a big group and built a whole imaginary world for them, along with an alter ego for myself to live in that world. (I guess that explains A Lot about me. Hehe.)

Yes! It’s a very funny story… My mom was the Kindergarten teacher at my daycare and my pre-school dragged me to her room and told my mom I was telling her that she was skipping words in the book. My mom tried to scold me for talking back to my teacher, but my teacher was like – I WAS SKIPPING. Did you know she could read?

What did you think you wanted to do as a job when you were 6?
Probably a teacher like my mom or someone who gets to work with animals.

What is something you believed about being grown-up when you were 6? And has that thing turned out to be true?
Um, I don’t remember being 6! I don’t think I thought much about grownups.

Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us about them/it!

Veterinarian, Doctor, Carmen Sandiego, She-Ra. I had a lot of grand ideas. 🙂
