Today is Dog Biscuits Day!

Dogs and cats are our best friends, for sure. They don’t care what color we are, or what gender, they just love us  unconditionally. We see them as our friends, our little babies. We dog (or cat) moms/dads want the best of best for them, and even if nowadays there are awesome brands of food and treats, homemade still is homemade.

We decide enterly on what our furry best friends eat and how much. So being today Dog Biscuits Day, I’m here to share with you all a recipe for some biscuits I made for our dog, Maggie.

Maggie loves her biscuits so much, that sometimes we find her sitting in the kitchen looking to the pantry waiting for us to give her some.

Like I said, even if we bought the most nutritious and healthy snacks for her, there are still a limit that we can give her per day. So, I thought that if I made some, I wouldn’t be so worried on the amount we have given her (still within limits, of course). And I guess this would be a worry for everyone, so that’s why I am sharing this recipe today. It’s an amazing way to celebrate Dog Biscuits Day, don’t you think?

With all the research I made, there were some famous ingredients I found: peanut butter and banana! These two foods are super healthy and we always have them in our fridge, am I right? And for the combining ingredient, you can use or normal flour or oats blend into flour of some sort.

Banana & Peanut Butter Biscuits

(this is so simple, that you are going to laugh)

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 bananas
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 3 tbsps water
  • 1 cup flour

Method:

You can use a food processor or do this by hand.

Smash the bananas with the peanut butter, add the water to help you reach the puree. Then add the flour and combine everything. Add a little more flour if the dough is sticky. It should be soft.

Grab flour and a roll, divide the dough and roll until it’s 0,5cm high. Then its time to use the cookie cutter. Unfortunately I don’t have a bone cookie cutter (already order one on eBay), so I used a star, because of course our Maggie is our little star, (I’m sure your dog is your little star too).

Prep the oven trays with baking paper and lay your biscuits. You don’t need to leave too much space in between them, because they don’t rise.

180ºC (~350ºF) for about 10 to 20 mins. In my oven that is air forced, it only took a little less then 10mins, so you should adjust according to your oven. And that is it! Your biscuit dogs are ready.

I made around 125 biscuits. Used all the dough. (Are you thinking about the price? Yeah! Never again I will buy biscuits or treats for Maggie!)

You should keep this biscuits in a bag close, in the fridge.

Share all your creations, and if your dog likes them, in the comments below!

There were so many when I finished and we were so close to Valentine’se Day, that I made some jars for Maggie’s friends: I hope this gives you ideas.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Have fun in the kitchen.
