This year’s 24-hour Halloween party is a sleepover! The staff have sneaked off to the haunted library for ghost stories, urban legends, and gossip. Come join us! We’ve got candy.

Candy corn filling a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter. To the right are cookie cutter shapes for a jack'o'lantern mouth and eyes.

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

Not this year…

Do you believe in ghosts?

I prefer not to think about it! ?

What’s your favorite ghost story?

Winchester house!

Kara

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

STILL PLOTTING. SO MANY OPTIONS. But at least one of them will be a Halloween-ified Alice in Wonderland for the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland!

Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes

What’s your favorite ghost story?

I’m not into the extra spoopy ghost stuff. Does Ghostwriter count? I wanted him to be real so bad when I was a kid!

Kim

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

I never usually decide until the last minute!

Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes!!

What’s your favorite ghost story?

There’s a pretty creepy story about a woman who was burned in her house because the teenagers thought she was a witch. Today, the area is called Devil’s Hollow, and the remains of the stone chimney still stand…and it’s said if you’re there at night, you can still see smoke rising from the site and hear a woman screaming.

Jen

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

I’m not. I’ll probably just wear my Ghostbusters t-shirt or a lot of orange.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes and no. I don’t WANT to believe in ghosts because it scares the crap out of me. But deep down, I think they’re a possibility.

What’s your favorite ghost story?

The Green Ribbon from In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories. This story freaked me out as a kid and to this day it still gives me the creeps.

Summer

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

I’m going as NAILED IT – it’s a Nailed It/It mash up. It’s going to be horrible. I’m sorry in advance.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Kind of, but don’t tell the ghosts.

What’s your favorite ghost story?

La Llorona

Amanda

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

I haven’t decided yet! I don’t have anything I’m dying to do at the moment, so may fall back on Morticia or Wednesday.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Absolutely!

What’s your favorite ghost story?

I love local ghost stories, the kind that you listen to and then can MAYBE have the experience for yourself!

Joanna

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

Well, ONE of my costumes is Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas but there will be something else, too, I’m sure. (UPDATE: I just got the makings of a snow leopard costume, so watch out!)

Do you believe in ghosts?

I believe in good ghost stories, folk lore, and the way memory can live inside of us and creep out of our subconscious in unexpected ways, and other complicated things that are too much for this short post but I will boringly refer you to this SciShow video

What’s your favorite ghost story?

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson! I read it in undergrad and it’s haunted me ever since.

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what?

You know the 1970s trade paperback covers for pulp mystery novels? They usually consist of women with long flowing hair, wearing diaphanous negligee, running away from brooding castles or decrepit graveyards. I’m going as one of the women from those covers.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I’m not certain about ghosts in the sense of sentient spirits of the formerly living. I do believe in residual hauntings, which are locations where a traumatic event or a series of events has imprinted energy onto a location and continues to manifest.

What’s your favorite ghost story?

Film: Crimson Peak

Literature: The Adventure of the German Student, The Masque of the Red Death, and, for giggles, The Canterville Ghost
