“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void, but out of chaos.” Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein.

We’re going to make some CHAOS art! All you need are some basic drawing supplies and to let your creativity go wild!

Supplies

  • Pencil
  • Piece of paper or even scrap paper
  • Coloured pencils or markers
  • OPTIONAL: Black marker
  • NO ERASERS ALLOWED!

Instructions

Place your pencil on the paper. Now, take it for a walk without lifting the nib from the paper. Fill the page with loops and swoops in a continuous line.

Grab your markers (or pencils, whichever’s your jam) and decorate your loops! You can do this however you like – you can colour whole loops, half loops, add patterns, whatever you like. It’s your chaos!

the closed loops of the drawing are filled in with colorful markets

OPTIONAL: If you like, you can go over some or all of the pencil lines with a black marker to make your chaos stand out more. 🙂

Happy chaos making!
