S’mores. Ghost stories. Blanket forts. Pranks. Fireside chats. Everyone has their favorite part of IGGPPCamp. Each August, the IGGPPC community comes together for a virtual camp – FOUR WHOLE DAYS of pen pal shenanigans, crafts, and time spent with friends. With camp just around the riverbend, the IGGPPC staff are already hard at work planning and preparing the virtual campgrounds. But they need YOUR help too!

Each year during camp, Campers are grouped into one of three troops and applications are currently being accepted for Troop Counselors. SIX (two counselors per troop) intrepid and engaging iggles are needed to commit some time and some spirit to make camp accessible and fun for Campers! Interested? GREAT! Submit an IGGPPCamp Counselor application! Still not sure? Read on! We’ve asked some of our former Counselors about their experience and what they LOVED about heading up a troop for IGGPPCamp!

Feeling part of a wonderful community, be in touch with other iggles, meeting new iggles.

What was your favorite part of being a Counselor?
I felt like I was useful in the community. I had a lot of fun preparing camp (I went to do a photoshooting in the woods to have illustration pictures and gifs to share everyday with my troop), organizing the pranks and trying to win the challenges but most of all, I loved including all the iggles in my troop, trying to make them participate no matter how shy they were!

What has been your favorite part of IGGPPCamp?
Every. Single. Thing. No really, this is my favorite event of the year, because I love how the community comes together, and how many new people get involved with IGGPPC because of it! I also love hosting my annual Blanket Fort hangouts.

What was your favorite part of being a Counselor?
I was a counselor the very first year and we got to kind of figure out what being an IGGPPCamp counselor even meant! We chatted a LOT amongst ourselves, took silly photos, the works.

So, first I put it on a stick of some kind, maybe one I found in the woods if I’m camping, or maybe a metal one from my camping kit, and then I hold the marshmallow out over the fire, and I turn it slowly until it’s starting to melt, and basically riiiight before it’s going to fall off the stick into the fire, I stuff it into the s’more. (Wait, was this supposed to be multiple choice? Um. “Not burned?”)

Kara

What has been your favorite part of IGGPPCamp?
Being a freaking troll. It is my internet-persona-nature and I’m honored I get to encite shenanigans as camp nurse. I also love watching the directors, counselors, and campers alike, get into the spirit and make camp a tangible, incredible experience.  I never went to real summer camp and IGGPPCamp truly makes my wildest camp dreams come true <3

What was your favorite part of being a Counselor?
Creating a camp-like atmosphere within an online community. I think we did a pretty darn good job, what with our photos, cabin!forums, and chat hijinx! And the care package swap ties it all together and brings camp into real life while celebrating our club’s joint love of snail mail. IGGPPCAMP IS REAL. I’m proud of what camp has grown into from the little seed we first year counselors planted.
