Amidst all the fun of camp, let’s take a moment to relax. Snuggle up in your blanket fort and spend a few minutes unwinding with this guided meditation – we’ll enjoy the sand, the sea, and a beautiful sunset.

Welcome to your beach camp meditation. I’m Bibbidi, and I’d like to invite you to gently and mindfully relax into a peaceful rest.

Go ahead and make yourself comfortable. You can sit or lie down, whatever works best for you. Perhaps you’re cosy in your camp blanket fort. Close your eyes. As you allow your body to settle and relax, bring your attention to your breathing. Take a deep breath in – pause for a moment at the top of the breath – and breathe slowly out. With each deep breath, notice the cool air entering your body and the warm air leaving your body. Feel your body gently rise – pause – and relax as you breathe out.

It’s evening on a beautiful, serene beach. The sun is setting as you walk along the sand with a rolled up beach towel under your arm. The air around you is starting to cool, but the soft sand below your feet is still warm – it’s been soaking up the sunshine all day. The air smells fresh, a mix of sea salt and a sweet, fruity scent.

Earlier the beach was full of campers having fun, but now you’re the only one here. It’s quiet apart from the gentle breeze and the sound of the waves coming in and out, in and out. You stand at the end of the shore for a little while and let the cool water wash over your feet, as you look out to the ocean. The sky is full of soft pink and orange. As the sun sinks down, it reflects off the sea, creating dappled patterns of light on its still, blue surface.

The sky is turning darker now, with the colours shifting to rich hues of purple. It’s time to relax. You walk a little further up the beach and find a smooth, sandy spot. You unfurl your beach towel with a satisfying fwish, and lay it out on the sand. It’s your favourite beach towel – what does it look like? What are the colours and patterns?

You sit down on your beach towel, then lie down. You stretch out your limbs in the sand around you, lengthening your arms and your legs, feeling the soft sand, before relaxing them down by your sides on your beach towel. The towel is fluffy and warm, and you feel the sand underneath it gently moving, a little crunchy. Lying on your towel, you gently move your head from side to side, bringing your left ear to your left shoulder for a little stretch, then bringing your right ear to your right shoulder, and finally bringing your head back to the centre and letting it relax.

You gaze up at the sky. It’s a deep, dark blue now, and the stars are starting to come out. You watch as each tiny star expands as its light gets brighter, and then melts back; expands again; and melts back again. The stars wax and wane in their slow, gentle pattern, just like the waves as they reach back, then wash out onto the sand. Everything here is moving at its own pace.

Soon it will be time to head back to the campgrounds and get cosy around the campfire. You will bring with you this feeling of serenity and balance. For now though, it’s just you and the beach – the sand, the sky, and the sea, with its waves coming in and out, in and out.
