I’ve always been of the opinion that there’s a great comic book out there for everyone. I love making recommendations to folks – especially new readers – and helping them grow a love for one of America’s unique forms of literature.

So, let me tell you what to read this week.

Blood-C Volume 3

If you like women wielding katanas and being awesome, this is the manga for you. This series was written by CLAMP, the group of women who brought you Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, and xxxholic. This volume will bring you right up to the new animated movie, Blood-C: The Last Dark.

Batman Lil Gotham Volume 1

Writer: Fridolfs, Derek
Artist: Nguyen, Dustin
Cover Artist: Nguyen, Dustin

If you’ve been paying attention to digital comics, you’ve noticed an adorable book being released during holidays. Lil Gotham features kid-friendly stories with cute antics. This collection is great for kids and the kid at heart.

Wonder Woman #28

The First Born is coming for Olympus again. With Wonder Woman serving as the God of War, things aren’t looking too good for her.

Red Sonja #7

New arc! New arc! Red Sonja is a bodyguard for a chef! Nice!

Alex + Ada #4

Now that Alex has decided to keep his robot companion Ada, he’s determined to give her more autonomy and personality. It’ll be interesting seeing how Ada develops from here on out!

Peter Panzerfaust #17

Peter Panzerfaust 17

Writer: Wiebe, Kurtis J.
Artist: Jenkins, Tyler
Cover Artist: Jenkins, Tyler

Every once in awhile a comic comes along that is amazing. For me, Peter Panzerfaust is that comic. Set during WWII, this retelling of Peter Pan is both beautiful and poignant. In this issue, Tiger Lily continues her hunt for the men who killed her father.

X-Men #11

X-Men #11

Writer: Wood, Brian
Artist: Anka, Kris
Cover Artist: Dodson, Terry

Yay! Another new arc starting this week! X-Men features an all-woman team. It has everything: action, drama, power players, and comedy. Lady Deathstrike is out to take down the X-Men, but the women have other things going on in their lives.

That’s it for this week’s pull list! If you have any recommendations for comic fans (and non-fans) out there, share them in the comments section!
