Hey everyone! Welcome to the September edition of staff picks! Every month, the IGGPPC staff shares the things they’ve discovered, fallen in love with, or been addicted to. Fall is starting to blow in for most of our staff members, so pumpkin spice is on our brains, along with video games and other warm, indoor pursuits. If you’re a regular follower of our staff picks, you’ll notice that the format has changed. The images above correspond to the picks, left to right, top to bottom.

Also, before we begin, please welcome back to the staff, Emma! She’s sharing her first staff pick since rejoining the staff, and it’s a good one, so be sure to check it out! As always we love to hear about new and exciting things, so if you’re into something you’ve been itching to share this month, let us know about it in the comments!

Jen: Pumpkin Spice Lindt Truffles [Candy]

I’m super happy this month because fall has shown up where I live and all things pumpkin have taken over the stores. I was pretty excited to come across a new Pumpkin Spice treat – Pumpkin Spice Lindt Truffles. They are so delicious! I’ve always been a fan of the melty-goodness of Lindt truffles but these add a nice hint of pumpkin to the chocolate. I foresee an addiction to these for the next couple of months (or until they disappear from stores).

Joanna: Disney’s Enchanted Tales [App]

I have just discovered Disney’s Enchanted Tales, which is a game they’ve released where you play through some of their iconic stories by interacting with tiny animated characters and building a world on what looks like an enchanted quilt. You can choose from three stories to start: Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, and Frozen. (Obviously I started with Belle!) So far it’s really fun, and you don’t run out of energy ever which is a huge thing in a game like this. What I haven’t played long enough is to tell if I’ll reach a point where I can’t progress without spending real money… but for now everything has been free and lovely! ^_^

Stewie: Stranger Things [TV Show]
I know it’s been out for a while, and the hype train left the station a few weeks ago, but perhaps there are a few little spooky babies out there who haven’t seen this show yet. And if you haven’t, add it to your Netflix list right meow. Stranger Things is a fantastic show on Netflix. Kind of X-files mixed with horror, it’s a thrilling sci-fi adventure that will keep you watching marathon-style through the entire thing. Do yourself a favor, grab your Eggos, and watch it. And if you’re coming to NYCC – Eleven and the Sheriff will be there! Oh, and say hi to me while you’re there.

Kimberlee: The Blizzard Legion Companion App [App]

FINALLY an app that actually lets you play a part of the game! I don’t get a whole lot of in game time now that my tiny nerdling is fully mobile. Having an app that allows me to complete game objectives even when I have to stay afk? Priceless. I feel like a MasterCard commercial.

Summer: Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte [Drink]

Ok friends. Here’s a pumpkin spice pro tip from me to you. If you love pumpkin spice, but you can’t (or don’t like to) drink coffee, try a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte from Starbucks. That’s right, you can get that sweet sweet pumpkin spice syrup added to your chai.

Rosa: The Story Board [YouTube Series]

So with only one and a half month to go until NaNoWriMo, you may have already begun thinking about the amazing story you will write; maybe you already know your characters and what dramatic events you are dragging them through, or maybe all you know is “I shall write a book.” Either way, I recommend watching The Story Board. It’s a Geek and Sundry series from 2012, in which author Patrick Rothfuss hosts a hangout with other special guest authors, discussing different elements of writing and storytelling. It’s very entertaining, most enlightening, and exceptionally motivational, and if you’ve watched it before already, you could always watch it again (I know I will).

Farquharson: Kingdom Hearts Unchained [App]

Kingdom Hearts is my number one game of all time, so it is only right that I pick Kingdom Hearts Unchained for iOS as my pick. This neat little game lets you create your own player then travel through Disney worlds battling heartless. Although I was at first skeptical as it is a freemium game, there is enough you can do in it without having to crack out the bank card. A nice little time sink to tide you over until KH3 is released!

Emma: Moblets [Game and Twitter Account]

While it doesn’t even have a release date yet, the upcoming indie game Moblets by Rebecca Cordingley looks like a ton of fun. Labeled “A game about Farming, Creatures, and Adventure” the world looks to feature mushroom men, a mustachioed deputy, a spoopy graveyard and some kind of battle system.

I’ve been following along with the dev updates on Twitter and I’m already so excited about this game. The art is adorable and weird, and I mean, MAYBE one of the characters totally looks just like me.

Toasty: Succulent of the Month Club [Subscription Box]

So a couple weeks ago, I discovered that there are subscription boxes for succulents! I was immediately excited about this development. This is a game changer. Whenever I’m at a store with succulents, I can never choose because they’re all so cute! So having a surprise hand-picked assortment shipped to me every month sounds like a dream come true! Also, succulents are the one type of plant that I’m actually capable of keeping alive, so I obviously need this.
