Joanna: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension [Movie]
So the other day I pulled up Hulu to watch something out of my queue and there, at the top of the screen, was a new recommendation for a movie with a brightly colored picture. I didn’t recognize it so I clicked it, read the title, and had to click play IMMEDIATELY. Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) is everything you want and more out of an 80s sci-fi flick. The cast alone should pique your interest: Peter Weller, John Lithgow (channeling his inner Christopher Walken), Christopher Lloyd, JEFF GOLDBLUM…. and the list goes on! If that doesn’t hook you, here’s the plot summary from wikipedia: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!, often shortened to Buckaroo Banzai, is a 1984 American science fiction romantic adventure comedy film directed and produced by W. D. Richter, and concerns the efforts of the multi-talented Dr. Buckaroo Banzai, a physicist, neurosurgeon, test pilot, and rock musician, to save the world by defeating a band of inter-dimensional aliens called Red Lectroids from Planet 10. The film is a cross between the action/adventure and sci-fi film genres and also includes elements of comedy, satire, and romance. WHO COULD RESIST? Not I! Now go watch this right now! YOU’RE WELCOME.

Stewie: Clash of Clans [Phone App]
My husband plays Clash of Clans morning, noon and night, and I finally got curious enough to download and try it out. Well, turns out, it’s highly addictive! To begin, you’ll have to build a secure and defensible base where you’ll train your army, while protecting and harvesting your gold and elixir. You’ll spend time and resources to upgrade each little part of your uniquely designed base to be super effective, and custom to your own strategic gameplay. You can then train your troops of varying size, race, and ability (barbarians, archers, goblins, giants, wizards and dragons) to effectively destroy and loot other peoples bases. Join a clan, and you’ll have the aid of lots of other nerds to help you when you go to war with other clans. Basically, strategic and a total time-suck. And YES – I want all the plushies!

Toasty: The Hot Topic Doctor Who collection [Clothing]
I know I’ve picked a few things from Hot Topic lately, but they’ve been on point with their fandom clothing lines, lately. When I saw their Doctor Who collection, I squealed out loud! And then I bought the coat. I really want the dress too. And the sweater. And all of the things! I need more coupons!

Sumsy: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker [Tea Maker]
My husband and I splurged with some holiday cash to buy this SUPER FANCY top of the line tea maker. And you guys, it was totally worth it. If you are like me and make tea nonstop, this is a nice investment. Like a coffee maker, you can set it to brew on delay. AND you can set the water temp and brew time! (Or, just hit the “green tea” button and it calculates the temp and brew time for you!) Or you can just use it to heat water! So yeah. I’m super in love with my kettle.

Farquharson: ‘Carnival Flower’ by Molotov Jukebox [Album]
Every so often you stumble upon a band, artist or album and you think “where have you been all my life?” – this happened to me with the album ‘Carnival Flower’ by a band called Molotov Jukebox. I have loved prancing around my kitchen to their upbeat, accordian fuelled tunes – if ever there was an album to lift your spirits, this is it. Added bonus points: when googling the band to read up about them I discovered that Natalia Tena (aka Tonks in the HP movies and Osha in GoT) is the lead signer!

Jen: Perler Beads [Crafts]
Yep, I’m late to the perler bead party but when you find an unopened container at the thrift store for cheap you buy it! My evenings have been spent designing adorable future magnets.

Kim – The Shannara Chronicles [TV Show]
High fantasy, post apocalyptic future, based on a great series of books, and so far the cinema tics and cgi have been lovely. Also, Manu Bennett’s muscles. Mostly that last thing.
