Has the real Bellamy Blake finally returned to us?
Despite Lexa’s death, the blockade (and only the blockade at the moment) is happening. News of her death may not have spread yet, but her army is doing everything she asked. They are not attacking the camp but only those who cross the border and have already taken some Skaikru out.
Two Grounders ride up to the gates to explain the blockade and that they only want Pike in exchange for all the lives he’s taken. Bellamy doesn’t seem to care and shoots them in the head. Even Pike seems a bit surprised, since he was telling Bellamy to just walk back inside.
A meeting happens where Pike assigns Monty as his “spy.” I’m still trying to figure out when Monty became one of Pike’s followers? Is it because of his mom? Did she get to him somehow with the death of his dad? Any way, Monty doesn’t seem that thrilled to spy on people, but I guess whatever’s necessary.
Meanwhile our group of “rebels” are listening in. Kane, Harper, and Miller can no longer meet in the same spot, but Harper has the great plan of just shock-lashing Pike in his fascist face. I vote Harper to take out Pike.
At first Kane tries to reason with Pike, tries to get him to turn himself over but Pike reminds us about Finn and how that turned out…but didn’t it turn out well? I know Lexa betrayed Clarke but an alliance was formed and the Grounders hadn’t attacked Arkadia since (and the Ice Nation shouldn’t count.) It could have been a lot worse with Finn. Also, Finn turned himself in and Clarke spared him the torture that would have come with his death, or did everyone seem to forget that part?
Pike’s army is planning on attacking the blockade despite being short on ammo, however, this is a fake plan to outsmart Kane and unfortunately, Kane falls for it and also sets up a fake plan.
Sinclair pretends to work on the car but Bellamy knows what’s up and locks him up with Lincoln. Sinclaire says their plan is ago. Lincoln pretends to beat up Sinclaire and ends up getting most of the guards inside. This gives Kane the opportunity to shock-lash Pike, tie him up, and throw him in the car. He starts to head out of the gates but Bellamy comes in and blocks him. Part of me was hoping he’d just run Bellamy over because at this point, who even is Bellamy anymore?
But nope, he stops and Pike sends him away for his punishment.
So what is Pike planning? Banishment? No food for a week? Nope, Kane is sentenced to death and in that moment, Bellamy realizes he’s on the wrong side. In tears, Bellamy asks Pike if they’re really killing their own people and Pike says Kane needs to be an example.
Bellamy and Monty speak outside the room, talking about Harper and Miller’s involvement when Hannah comes out and asks if there was anyone else. Before Monty can respond, Bellamy says no and in that moment Bellamy seems to be back.
There was some side-plot happening as well. A.L.I.E. and Raven are searching for the remains of the 13th station but it could be in the ocean. Jaha thinks they need more minds in the City of Light and Raven has an idea to use Jasper to break into Pike’s office to get the chips back. There is one problem: Monty has been resetting the passcode and Jasper needs to figure out a five-digit code.
After some reminiscing about his life with Monty, they figure out the code is EARTH, thanks to A.L.I.E. standing off to the side talking to Raven, and they get in. Throughout the entire search there are moments Raven talks to A.L.I.E. and Jasper stands around, looking confused.
Jasper starts talking about Mya and his two week relationship and brings up Finn to Raven. He points out the necklace she was wearing, but Raven doesn’t remember. She doesn’t remember her first kiss and finally Raven starts to see that A.L.I.E. and the City of Light may not be all it’s cracked up to be.
Later, A.L.I.E. tells Jaha that no one has ever resisted her but Raven isn’t just anyone. She’s strong enough to resist and they may need to change their plan on the whole City of Light.
Overall, this was a good episode where we finally saw two characters see the light…that doesn’t happen to be in a city. Bellamy is back and it looks like he may be leading a rescue mission for not only Kane, but Sinclaire and Lincoln. Raven is starting to realize her memories are being taken away and if that means forgetting Finn, the City of Light may not be the solution to her problem after all.
One would think the characters should be safe next week, they’d never kill off Kane or Lincoln, but this show has done more, and with Lexa’s death last week, I’m not sure what to expect anymore.
What do you think of this season so far?
