I’ve always been of the opinion that there’s a great comic book out there for everyone. I love making recommendations to folks – especially new readers – and helping them grow a love for one of America’s unique forms of literature.

So, let me tell you what to read this week.

Zodiac Starforce #2

Writer: Panetta, Kevin
Artist: Ganucheau, Paulina
Cover Artist: Wada, Kevin

Zodiac Starforce 2

From Previews:

They saved the world two years ago, but when a new, monstrous threat arises, can they put aside their differences and become a team again? Hopefully they can; otherwise team leader Emma, who’s been infected by an evil magical force, is a goner! Will the Zodiac Starforce reunite and enter the dark realm of Nephos to save their captain, or will a fierce rivalry on the volleyball court tear them apart?

Second issue is just as strong as the first! This series is, more or less, what goes on in my head. It’s got five great girls, diversity, and monsters. I’m so happy we have Zodiac Starforce and Power Up as magical girl comics in America now.

From Under Mountains #1

Writer: Gibson, Claire
Artist: Leong, Sloane
Cover Artist: Churchland, Marian

From Under Mtns 1

From Previews:

In the first issue of this new fantasy series, old feuds and new monsters rise up to haunt the isolated northern fortress of Karsgate.

While this series didn’t grab my attention immediately, I am a sucker for stories of women bucking the gender normative to conquer their dreams. This will be a three-issue trial for me.

That’s it for this week’s pull list!  If you have any recommendations for comic fans (and non-fans) out there, share them in the comments section!

On a different note, this is my last week writing The Pull List for International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club. I have truly enjoyed bringing new comics to your attention each week. If you are still interested in my personal pull list, I have a google sheet updated each week with the comics I read. You can also catch me on the podcasts The Missfits and Talking Shojo. Keep reading, Iggles; I hope you find your perfect comic.
