We have another amazing sponsor to share with you today, Culture Flock Clothing! Read on to find out more about this awesome clothing site and the amazing team behind it!
- What’s the name of your site, and what is it about? Where did the name come from?
Our site is www.cultureflockclothing.com. We’re all about making clothes that resonate with people: geeks, girly girls, tomboys, dudes, pop culture fanatics, caffeine addicts, etc. Our name hints at our obsession with all things pop culture, while being a play on words of the term “culture shock.” We also really like birds.
- How did you first get the idea that you wanted to create this online shop?
Brittany, our head designer has a background in illustration and design. She was always working on illustrations and turning them into prints. We kept saying how great her artwork would look on clothing, so we took a leap and decided to learn how to screen print. In the last two years, we’ve taken our little side project clothing line into a full-time thing.
- Who are your geek role models?
Imperator Furiosa, Jerrica Benton, Lisbeth Salander, Kristen Bell, and Sally Ride.
- Who is your biggest supporter(s) and cheerleader(s) in your life?
Our parents, our brothers, and our dogs, especially the dogs. 🙂
- What would you say to an iggle who wanted to start an online shop?
Be prepared to work weird hours, always be patient with your customers, and give things time to get going. Sometimes we’ll launch what we think is the best product ever, but it takes people a little while to catch on or jump on our bandwagon. Don’t freak out, that’s just a part of it.
6. What’s your favorite part of running your site?
It’s never boring because nothing ever stays the same. It’s a constant juggle of keeping up with what our customers love and keeping stocked. Sometimes it is overwhelming, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
7. What’s your favorite product on your site?
This is always tough. We have our old favorites that never change, like the “Work It” or “Don’t Tell Me What To Do” sloth tee. We are definitely obsessed with our new “All the Things” tees, though. We’re a little biased, since we put all our favorite things on a shirt, but seriously, who doesn’t love pizza, pets, riding bikes, and hot drinks?!
8. What are your current top 5 Geek Loves?
Rat Queens, Outlander, Lisbeth Salander, the new Ghostbusters reincarnation, Belfort (board game!)
- What’s your favorite part about the IGGPPC?
Remember your elementary school pen-pal? We don’t either. But having a pen-pal that shares your interests and sends you cool stuff… best idea ever. Plus, even though some people think snail mail is a thing of the past, it’s still super exciting seeing something other than crap advertisements and bills in your mailbox! 😀
