Say hello to fellow Iggle, Toni! Toni is the talented lady behind Little House of Crafting and we had the chance to interview her about her store and blog and her thoughts on the IGGPPC community. Read on to see what she has to say!

1. What’s the name of your store, and what do you sell? Where did the name come from?

My shop is Little House of Crafting. I sell geeky pinback buttons and magnets as well as 8bit perler magnets. I came up with the store name after a couple days of brainstorming. My husband and I live in a little 650-square-foot house. I craft in it so the name stuck!

2. How did you first get the idea that you wanted to open your online store?

I felt that selling only at conventions wasn’t fair to everyone. I wanted to make sure that my pinback buttons and magnets would be available to everyone regardless of where they lived. I was selling in the artist alley at Matsuricon in Ohio and one of my friends on DeviantART recommended Storenvy. It’s been great!

3. Do you sell your wares in other places besides online?

I used to sell at conventions but am no longer able to due to my day job and school schedule. I hope to expand into libraries and school bookstores this year.

4. Who are your artist/online shop role models?

Oh my goodness I have so many! The online shop owner Cody from Lu and Ed has been a huge role model for me from the beginning. She also runs the blog Daft Crafts and when I first found it I poured over the blog posts for days!

Two other great online shop role models are Mei from Tiny Hands and The Pragmatic Designer and, Lisa Jacobs from Market Your Creativity.

5. Who is your biggest supporters and cheerleader in your life?

Definitely my husband and local iggle Shelby. My husband wasn’t sure if this was going to be yet another hobby I get excited about and then drop later but he’s supported me from the beginning. Shelby has been an absolute gem of support and encouragement. She’s great at helping me brainstorm new designs too!

6. What would you say to an iggle who wanted to open their own store?

I’m a huge fan of research so I will start with that recommendation first. Research the product you’re interested in selling. And by that I mean look on Etsy and other online ecommerce sites and see how other shops do their product photos, pricing, listing descriptions, etc. Also take a peek at their social media and see how they use it.

You don’t have to do everything they do. It just gives you an idea of the time, energy and process they may use to run their shop.

All in all, have fun! Not everything has to be perfect before you start. Be sure to join some communities that make you smile too.

7. What’s your favorite part of running your online store?

My favorite part is interacting with fans and other artisans. I love seeing the joy my products bring to others!

8. What’s your favorite product you have ever made?

My Don’t Worry I Speak Nerd design is my absolute favorite! I love being able to comfort other nerds that it’s okay, I understand and speak nerd too.

9. Who’s your dream valentine? (Real or fictional)

My husband is and will always be my valentine. I know it’s mushy but it’s true!

10. What’s your favorite part about the IGGPPC?

My favorite part about the IGGPPG is how inclusive it is. I adore the “Definition of a ‘Geek” post. It really goes to show that regardless of what you geek about IGGPPC is the place for you.
