GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED!

 Greetings and Salutations IGGPPC Nation,

Mab + Her Good Friend Chewbacca

Today I have the honour of introducing you to an artist who I have been creeping on for a long while, the incomparable Mab Graves.
The dark whimsy and ethereal surrealism of her work is breathtaking, but she is not without her geek charms! The first piece I saw by Mab was this Princess Leia painting, and I have been hooked ever since! She has very graciously answered some questions from the HQ team as well as putting together a spectacular prize pack for us to give away to one lucky Iggle!

Now without further ado, here’s Mab…

Thanks for taking some time out to talk to me, how did you get started with your illustrations?
I have always love drawing and sketching – ever since I was little! I started working professionally as an artist 6 years ago ^_^

Where do you take inspiration from?
Oh everywhere. A lot comes from what I am reading at the time. I love using literary parallels and draw a lot of inspiration from old fairytales and classics. A lot of my inspiration comes from dreams too ^_^

Do you have any advice for our iggles who might be interested in getting into illustration?
I’ve spent thousands and thousands of hours painting in the last 6 years. Every year I get better! Keep drawing! You will be amazed at how much you improve with practice!

I wouldn’t be doing my job right if I didn’t ask you…if you could have any pen pal, real or fictitious, who would it be and why?
I have 4 pen pals right now! 3 of them are under the age of 9 ^_^. I guess if I could choose ANYONE it would be Professor Pierre Aronnax from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I think he would make a fabulous pen pal. Or maybe Lestat from Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles.

Do you have a favorite quote?
“And the rest is Rust and Stardust” – Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

What TV show/Comic/Book/Film or Video Game are you getting a kick out of this month?
Right now I am working on my next series – Alice in Wonderland (out this September) so I am currently consuming anything I can get my hands on films, books, manga etc. that is Alice related for inspiration!

Onto a few daft questions…you have to team up with a villain to take down some pesky do-gooders, who do you choose?
Constance Langdon from American Horror Story. *crush*

A mad scientist leaves a universe jumper to you in their will, that will take you to any land real or fictional. Where is the first place you jump to?
Narnia. Or possibly Fabletown from the “Fables” graphic novels by Bill Willingham!

And finally, what are your current top 5 geek loves?
Battlestar Galactica (always!), Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Star Wars (original!), Grand Budapest Hotel, anything written by Neil Gaiman….
