Flashback to the 90’s by going Inside the Theme: We Love the 90’s with IGGPPC’s Prefects! The good ol’ days of pop music, silly shows on Nickelodeon, beanie babies, and real music on MTV.  Maybe you’ll rediscover some old favorites or become introduced to some new ones!

Sophie – House GlaDOS

Tell us your favorite memory from the 90’s. (I know it’s hard to pick just one, but you can do it!)

In the 90’s I was 3-13 so basically my whole childhood. I simply cannot pick one memory but I’d say a collective of spending summers in Devon with my family, especially as my two little cousins were born in the middle of the decade.

What album best captures the spirit of the 90’s for you?

Hmmm, I wasn’t really into music as a child so I’m going to have to pick from very late in the decade. I’m going to go with ‘Baby One More Time‘ by Britney Spears. It was the first time I really enjoyed music.

What is your favorite 90’s TV show?

SM:TV! Loved that show. It was a Saturday morning magazine show.

Summarize your experience of the 90’s in one sentence.

I fell over so much. I have scars on both my knees.

Everyone’s favorite 90’s babies?

Probably one of the Rugrats. They had such a fun life and big group of friends.

If you could bring back one thing from the 90’s, what would you choose? Why?

Childhood innocence. I’m sure it wasn’t but the world felt much safer and more fun back then.

Toys! Beanie babies – I loved those things. I had hundreds of the damn things, from jellyfish to bears. And Polly Pocket, back in the day when the whole playset fit in your pocket not just the little figures.

What album best captures the spirit of the 90’s for you?

I think the Spice Girls album ‘Spice’ covers it all, as a tiny human being – me and all of my friends wanted to be one of the Spices (I was always Posh Spice if you were wondering.)

What is your favorite 90’s TV show?

During the 90s I would have to say it was the cartoon, Rugrats. There was something about those babies and all the mischief they got up to. I loved their adventures, and looked forward to them every day after school.

I was very short, and grumpy.

Short, yes. Grumpy? Ha!

If you could be a fictional character from the 90’s who would you be and why?

I would be Clarissa from ‘Clarissa Explains It All.’ She always had all of the answers, and she had the best bedroom I have ever seen.

Franny experiences her first real snow!

My favorite memory from the 90’s is my family’s Christmas vacation to Colorado when I was in junior high.  It was the first time that I saw REAL SNOW!  My first snowman.  We got to ice skate on a real pond like on TV!

What album best captures the spirit of the 90’s for you?
I would pick Madonna – Immaculate Collection. The vibe is totally 90’s, plus Madonna totally rocked the style of the 90’s while expressing the feel and theme of the times.

For me the 90’s was a bridge from childhood to adolescence, the stepping stone that helped to create the me of today!

If you could be a fictional character from the 90’s who would you be and why?

Clarissa from ‘Clarissa Explains It All.’ She had awesome fashion-sense.  She triumphed over her annoying little brother.  And, of course, she would always explain it all!  Plus, I always wanted a BFF that would climb through my window!

Amanda – House Organa

Tell us your favorite memory from the 90’s. (I know it’s hard to pick just one, but you can do it!)

My first rock (or any type of music) concert. My sister took me to see Warrant, Firehouse, and Trixter. I was 10!

Marvelous 3’s “Hey!” album. Freak of the Week is still one of my favorite songs. My love affair with music started pretty young, in case you hadn’t guessed!

The Secret World of Alex Mack

Alex Mack from The Secret World of Alex Mack. She got to do a lot of fun sleuthing and always had weird things happening around her. It looked fun! Plus, she’s adorable.
