It’s officially the end of June… where the heck did the month go?! It feels like we just kicked off the Iggles’ Comic Book Alliance. Anyways, now that it is the end of the month, it’s time to wrap up our very first month of the Iggles’ Comic Book Alliance! As you all know, we’re still working out the kinks, figuring out the grand plan and all that jazz. I mentioned this in the initial post, I figured at the end of every month, after we’ve all read the trade, I’d do a review of sorts, ask you all some questions, then we’d gather in the comments below and discuss our final thoughts on the trade itself. If you want to discuss spoilers, let’s discuss spoilers! (Warning: if you don’t like spoilers, please don’t read the comments or the following post! Instead, you can go here.)

So for the month of June, we read Ms. Marvel Vol 1. No Normal. I actually suggested this trade and, wow, was the response mind blowing. I couldn’t believe everyone was so excited to read this trade along with me! I’d read the first issue right when it was released, so to go back and reread it, along with the next 4 issues, I could hardly wait to start. But since I’m me, I actually didn’t read it till the end of the month. What can I say? Con season got the best of me.

After rereading the first issue, I had forgotten how much I LOVED this comic. Kamala is such a fun, relatable character. I mean, she writes Avengers fan fic! How much more relatable can you get? Her dream is to become a superhero, which I’m sure we’ve all dreamed about at some point. I found her to be more relatable than most teenage leads in comics. Her friends and  family, although sometimes annoying to Kamala, seem like people you’ve know or met at one point in life too. I loved the transition from her “normal” life to her “superhero” life. It never felt rushed, but was laid out sparingly, which worked really well and really struck a note with me.

Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal was one of the best trades I’ve read in a while. I’m not sure about you all, but I actually enjoy it in trade better. I feel as if the story goes along more smoothly than single issues. Then again, I’m also impatient because I must know what happens to Kamala and her superpowers next. Especially with that cliff hanger of an ending. All I know is that I will be picking up the second trade ASAP. I’m also interested in if we will ever see a Ms. Marvel movie? What are your thoughts on that? I’ve wrote a few questions below, so we can discuss in the comments below. As usual, if you have any ideas or comments at to how we can make the Iggles’ Comic Book Alliance bigger and better, let us know!

(P.S. Be on the lookout tomorrow as I introduce our July trade of the month!)

What did you think of Kamala’s “origin” story? Did you feel her getting powers felt generic or brand new?

What were your first impressions of her home life? Did you think her parents were unfair? What did you think of her friends?

Did you like Ms. Marvel’s costume change?

(For those who haven’t read ahead) What did you think of the bird man/villain at the end of the trade? Have any ideas as to what his intentions are?
