One of the most beloved and most groundbreaking TV series from the ’90s, The X-Files, is finally making its comeback. After months of speculation whether the show would be returning to the small screen, Fox finally gave the go for the revival on March 24, 2015, pleasing fans worldwide. A six episode miniseries is in the works with a special two night event beginning January 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT)  and continuing  the next night, January 25. The show will be on regularly Monday nights at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT. Creator Chris Carter is at the helm once again, with David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man) all being confirmed to reprise their roles.

36 cheers to that

Cheers to that. *clink* (credit: Cinema Blend)

Even though the show had a huge following while on air, most (myself among them) seem to think this revival is mostly because of both today’s fans and the willingness of both Carter and the stars to come back. Without it becoming the cult classic it is today (there’s a huge following on Tumblr), there would be no revival. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ecstatic to finally see two of my favorite characters back together solving some of the creepiest FBI cases. As stated before in a previous post (maybe I wished the revival into being? & I also own that Scully shirt now), I’ve been a huge fan of the show since I was very young and I can’t wait to see what Carter has in store for a revival. Will it be a follow up on the aliens and the first movie? Or completely new monster of the week episodes? It will also be interesting to see how Mulder and Scully’s relationship has progressed since the last movie (I shall not name it) and where life has taken them since.  In the meantime, let’s all sit back and impatiently wait for January 24 to roll around….and hope the aliens don’t get us before then. TRUST NO ONE.

36 believing
