It’s time for another subscription box review. This month we received a subscription box from FanMail, a mystery box designed for lady geeks by lady geeks!

That’s the whole unboxing video, but if you want to get an up-close look at each of the items included, keep reading! The first thing I noticed about this FanMail box was that it had a good variety of usable items. A toy, an accessory, a wearable, a beauty product, and something to read. That’s a good balance in a box!

What’s Inside a FanMail Box?

As you can see, there were some fun items included, such as this Puppycat plushie. It’s a keychain style which makes it good for attaching to bags or satchels, and is soft enough to pet when you need a little friend.

The shirt is also cute, and I loved that it’s a Baymax tee! Who wouldn’t want a free hug from this adorable guy? The shirt came in a size medium, and it was a little snug for a unisex size, so you might want to double check their sizing before you order (as you can customize your shirt size for your subscription).

This special edition of Lumberjanes was a nice inclusion, and it begins with a new story arc so it was easy to read even if (like me) you’ve never read Lumberjanes before. The art card of the cover was a nice touch, too, so there’s a framable option of this lovely image of the girls opening a FanMail box.

Worth the Price?

All in all I’d say it’s a pretty good box, given that it focuses on female creators and their work. The single month price of $21.99 (US) isn’t bad, though I will note that it doesn’t include shipping, which changes based on your address. Considering it included a comic, a plush and a shirt plus the other items, you’re reasonably getting what you pay for with this one. As I mentioned in the video, it doesn’t come with a collectible, but to me this is a point in its favor: I have limited shelf space so boxes that send monthly vinyl figures, for instance, aren’t really my cup of tea.

If you want to check out FanMail for yourself, use code Penpal for $2 off your first box!
