Hello there, Everyday Cosplayers! It’s been a while, so I wanted to check in and give you some updates about a few fun things happening in the world of EDC. ^_^ Shall we?
FIRST: This week there’s a really fun article from the Orange County Register about Disneybounding! It does a great job explaining what Disneybounding is, if you aren’t already familiar with it, and features three of my favorite Disneybounders. One is Leslie Kay, who began the movement as a Tumblr to channel her love of fashion and all things Disney into fun outfits she could wear to the park (and in LIFE– who doesn’t want to dress like a Disney character every day?). Check out her Disneybound instagram account here for more looks.
“It’s like a secret society,” said Camacho, referring to those wearing Disneybound style and observers who get the reference to a character.
If that doesn’t make you want to get into Disneybounding, I don’t know what else will. ~_^
NEXT: In case you missed it at camp, Leo was on our Everyday Cosplay panel along with Megan Gotch of The Nerdie Girlie and yours truly, all moderated by our own lovely Stewie. The full panel (all 1.5 hours of it!) is available on YouTube.
MORE: Also in Disneybounding news, this month is the autumn Dapper Day celebration. There are events in California, Paris, and Orlando. Dapper Day is a fan event where people come to the parks dressed in their fashionable best. Many people do vintage looks, but that is by no means the only way to go. Check out the website for photos of past events and more details! (PS: There will be another post on this at the end of the month with some photos from the California and Paris events where Iggles will be present!)
OTHERWISE: Want me to stop talking about Disneybounding already? You got it! Hot Topic has a new Studio Ghibli line and even though it’s just tees and buttons for now, I’m really hoping they expand their merchandise. Keep an eye on their site, too, as they run international shipping specials sometimes for those of you not in the US.
If you’re like me and on a never ending quest to be a Sailor Scout since watching the original series when you were thirteen everyday after school even when your mother thought you needed “fresh air” (…just me?), then check out this site that has information on purchasing merchandise from Japan, including a lot of great Everyday Cosplay items like the transformation pens and compacts! You can also find some awesome stuff on etsy like this adorable Luna ear hat. I will caution you, though, that etsy can be a wormhole to another dimension if you aren’t careful and your time will vanish like it does on Tumblr with the unhappy bonus of also losing track of your entire month’s budget. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
