You may remember me pleading for you to watch Constantine back in November (if you don’t recall, you can refresh your memory here).  But, now it really is crunch time. There are two episodes left of Constantine, tonight and next Friday.

Since Constantine came back from the holiday hiatus, at a new time slot, the ratings have not been great….But fans, the cast and Executive Producer Daniel Cerone have been nothing but supportive, even regularly sitting together and live tweeting every episode. The dedication and interaction with loyal fans has been incredible. I should also note, even William Shatner is a fan of the show and live tweets it as it airs! Fans managed to get Constantine trending during last week’s show. But despite the loyal following it might not be enough (at least not yet).

NBC has announced a bunch of renewals for the 2015-2016 television season, but Constantine was not on the list.  While Constantine steadily pulls in around 3 million viewers, it is likely a rather expensive show to produce and the average .95 in the all-important 18-49 demographic isn’t making NBC executives happy. It’s respectable and it is the only comic property on that network (Fox has Gotham which was renewed, The CW has Arrow and The Flash which were renewed, ABC has the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and CBS will be getting Supergirl) and you’d think they’d want to nurture it. It may be the only reason they’ve actually continued to run Constantine and see where it goes. To be fair, Daniel Cerone has stated that NBC has been very supportive but at the TCA press tour in January, NBC president Jennifer Salke said “the live number is challenging.”

Constantine is a fantastic show that is bringing Hellblazer to life. Matt Ryan is perfect in the title role. The effects and overall mood of the show is perfectly dark when needed but also cheeky when John gets snarky. The music is composed by the genius Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, Black Sails, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and more). And fans have clearly rallied to the brilliant combination of all these elements. Now you can help rally too! Encourage everyone you know to help keep Constantine on the air. I know I want to see more of the seminal Hellbalzer stories brought to life, especially after seeing the way the show dealt with Mnemoth and Gary Lester.

We probably won’t get a judgment on Constantine until after the season ends which is NEXT WEEK. So, the best ways to help Constantine get another season:

  1. Matt Ryan as John Constantine Watch tonight and next Friday’s episodes live! And tweet about them. #SaveConstantine #Constantine @NBCUniversal
  2. Watch the any and all episodes over and over via on demand avenues.
  3. Check out SaveConstantine.com
  4.  Sign the petition
  5.  Mail the NBC executives (snail mail and email are both great)
  6. And continue talking, posting, and tweeting about Constantine!

Do this Hellblazer fan a personal favor and check out Constantine. It’s dark and creepy and a great comic done right (especially when Papa Midnite’s involved). Don’t you want to see where the Rising Darkness is headed? Or Doctor Fate?
