The days are getting shorter and colder and everyone is gearing up for the festive season. What am I asking Father Christmas for? Books of course! And here are some great Christmassy books to snuggle up with this winter.
Landline – Not strictly a YA book, but Rainbow Rowell is the reigning queen of romance right now and Landline is unlike any romance book you’ll find out there right now. Separated from her husband and children for Christmas, Georgie finds an old landline phone at her Mum’s house that allows her to call her husband back when they were still dating. Let the cuteness ensue!
Wintertown – Evan and Lucy were childhood friends before Lucy’s parents divorced. Now he only sees her over winterbreak. But this winter, Lucy has come home drastically changed from how Evan remembered her. A straight forward, winter story, with beautiful illustrations. Not ground-breaking, but a perfect read for those cold winter nights.
My True Love Gave To Me – A lovely compilation of short stories from some of the hottest YA authors. There’s really no need to spoil it any further; there’s sure to be something for everyone who loves romance and Christmas here.
Dash And Lily’s Book of Dares – Save the best till last! I read this book in summer, but I’m planning a re-read this Christmas because this book is steeped in festive fuzzies. Dash, the Christmas skeptic hipster, finds the beginning of a scavenger hunt in his favourite book shop which leads him to Lily, who adores all things festive. This book is adorable, funny and so, so Christmassy. Can’t recommend enough!
