The author imagines a dystopian future where fundamentalism and extremism (drawn from examples in the modern world) have taken over and women are not allowed to read or speak to boys. The heroine, Mina, is secretly taught to read by her grandmother, leading her down a dangerous path. Cohagen says that anyone reading her book will become a feminist by the end – so I’m interested!

The first in a new five-book series called the Trials of Apollo, the novel is set after the popular series The Heroes of Olympus. Apollo, after angering his father Zeus, is punished by being sent to live on earth as a teenage boy. This should be interesting.
