Let’s talk about March’s OwlCrate: Across the Galaxy. I would like to preface this post with the fact that I cried while opening this box. I know I have said it in the past but this was my favorite OwlCrate by far! Two things you should know about me. I love the color purple and I am obsessed with galaxy print things. This box made all of my purple/galaxy print dreams come true.

All the things…

As always, up first is the spoiler card, button, and the theme booklet. I’d like to take a more in-depth look at part of the booklet. The booklet is a new addition to the OwlCrate box that I think really adds to the value of the box. One of the things that I really liked about some other boxes was that they really delved deep into the authors and OwlCrate had sort of lacked that. Now they have, in my opinion, surpassed some of their competitors in terms of access to exclusive author interactions. The author interview features a Q&A where the author talks about writing process, inspiration, and challenges. The staff at OwlCrate even provide a forum for their readers to connect and discuss with each other.

Since the last 6 or so books have been exclusive covers or styles, the team at OwlCrate also love to show you the differences between your special version of the books and the book available on shelves. Upon first glance, this month’s change looks fairly simple but it’s probably one of my favorite changes they’ve ever made, but more on that later.

Up first in terms of swag, we have a Wick & Fable candle based on The Illuminae Files’ (another book on my TBR) Kady Grant. It smells very fresh and citrusy. It’s a really nice spring scent. There was another candle option from The Illuminae Files that I believe was light blue or purple and based on the character Hannah Donnelly. Also included was a FUNKO Pint-Sized Miniature Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 mystery pouch. Being the bad blogger that I am, I couldn’t wait to open it and see what I got. My pint-sized Star Lord is absolutely adorable and will make a great addition to my desk.

I am in love with the beautiful design of the watercolor bookmark from designer Lexy Olivia. The Star Wars quote is truly out of this world. Ba dum bum ::Cymbal Crash:: Also included is a deal from Nerdy Post! On the back of this Red Rising print, is a discount good for their monthly subscription box.

We have now arrived at my favorite items from the box. From the team at OwlCrate, a super soft galaxy print infinity scarf. What I love most about it, is that the pattern is totally subtle enough that you could wear it to work and it just looks like a really nice scarf. I also really like what I call a camp mug. The style reminds me of the tin cups you have when you go camping. The purple mug features a quote from the Lunar Chronicles designed by Sasha Natasha.

Heart of Iron

There was a major hint given about this month’s Across the Galaxy box and I was really excited to figure out that the book that would be included was Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. This is a re-telling of the story of Anastasia but it takes place in the future and in space! Personally, I’ve been on a musical kick lately and I just saw Anastasia on Broadway, so I’ve been doing a lot of googling into the story of the real-life Princess and I am really excited to dig into this book and see what matches up! Also included with the book was a poster of the main characters and a letter from the author!

I showed you earlier a side by side comparison picture of what makes the OwlCrate exclusive edition so unique but here is an up-close look. You can see that this cover has gold title writing instead of white as well as the edition is autographed! What you can’t see from that picture is that the edges of the pages of this edition are purple!

Across the Galaxy: Conclusion

Overall I could not be more thrilled with this Across the Galaxy box. There are so many items in here that I’ve already used even as this blog is being posted. I’m really excited about the book and again, I feel a little bit like a broken record, but I think what OwlCrate does best is quality. This box is totally worth the price tag!
