Green Lantern Makeup Tutorial

For the next series of makeup tutorials, I was trying to think of superhero groups that had a solid color scheme that I could replicate and first landed on the Justice League but that is SO many heroes that I decided to narrow it down to a group within that group….then I couldn’t think of any. So I decided instead to do the Lantern Corps: that’s got a lot of bold colors, and includes some awesome characters! First up is the one almost everyone knows: Green Lantern. Let’s get started!

First do normal foundation, concealer, contour, highlight, prime the eyes and all of your usual base routine.

Let’s start on eyeshadow colors. They’re all green… just in case you thought they’d be red. (Remember– Green Lantern!)

I started out with just the dark green provided in my palette but I decided later on that it wasn’t dark enough for me so I used a bit of black to darken it up. Please reference later photos for the darker color.

I wanted this shadow design to be what it called a halo effect, where the darker colors are on either side of the lid as apposed to just on the outer eyelid corner. So I added just the darker transition color to my inner eyelid corner because I didn’t want it to be too dark.

Nest I took a slightly lighter green and blended that into the dark green I already had to make a nice transition.

Then I took a sparkly, light green and applied that heavily to the lid. You want this to be very sparkly to create the dimension needed for a halo, so build it up with as many layers as necessary until you like the look you’ve achieved.

This is the point I mentioned earlier where I decided black needed to be added to the dark green. I just took a little bit of black and blended it into the very outside of the darkest green on my eyelid’s outer corner to make it a bit darker. It would probably turn out better if you apply it with the dark green instead of way after, but blending helps.

Apply eyeliner and mascara, and green lipstick if you have it. I spent (no kidding) ten minutes trying to remember what colors make green before I remembered that I can’t do that because I don’t have yellow lipstick.

I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what color Lantern Corp you’d like to see represented next!
