“I can IGGPPCamp – and so can you!”
So, you’re interested in joining in on the campy fun happening at IGGPPCamp! Awesome. Grab some marshmallows, pull up a log, and lend an ear. We get lots of questions about exactly what this camp is, and how people can participate, so please read our FAQ’s to see if your question has been answered. If it hasn’t, tweet @IGGPPCamp for more information.
What is IGGPPCamp?
IGGPPCamp is an online camp run by the IGGPPC [International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club]. For 1 week during August, we all get together online and do lots of fun things – including watching movies together, making s’mores, playing games on the forums, telling ghost stories, learning new things through awesome video tutorials, making friendship bracelets, building forts, and so much more.
A lot of these activities are enjoyed online by using Twitter, our forums, our blog, YouTube, and Google Hangouts. It’s a throwback to fun summer camps we attended as kids, but online and for the modern iggle.
When is IGGPPCamp?
The 3rd annual IGGPPCamp takes place from August 18-22, 2016. It runs in every time zone for any iggle anywhere worldwide!
Where is IGGPPCamp found?
What does it mean to register for IGGPPCamp?
It is not required to register for camp to join in. Registration took place August 1-7 and is simply a free perk which means that if you registered, you were placed in a troop. There are 3 troops this year.
Oh no, I did not register for IGGPPCamp. Can I still join in on the fun?
Absolutely! Registration only impacts Troop activities but Camp Activities are available to everyone.
Oh great! How do I find out about Camp Activities?
The official Camp Handbook lists all of the Camp Activities you will be able to do. There is a dedicated Camp Activities forum which will be available on August 18 with many of the Camp Activities forums. In addition, the activities will become available on YouTube, our blog, and in other designated places. You will always be able to find out what’s happening either on the IGGPPCamp Twitter, the Camp Bulletin board, or the daily camp blog post called the Daily Campfire. You’ll need to register for the site so you can post replies in the forums!
How do I join in on Troop activities if I registered for a Troop?
We hold Troop registration from August 1st to August 7th, and Troop assignments were sent out by August 10th. You can find all of your Troop activities in the Troop forums! Simply go to Troop Firebolt, Troop Impala, or Troop Serenity to jump in. You’ll need to register for the site so you can post replies in these forums, though!
How do I join in on live events?
A few of the events are live, but not all. Live events often happen on Twitter or via Google Hangouts. To find out if an event is live, it will have a time listed next to it in the Camp Handbook. In order to participate via Twitter, you will need a Twitter account. You can follow @GeekGirlPenPals for information and @IGGPPCamp for all of the live events. Live events are listed in CDT time but if you are still confused, you can tweet us to confirm the time zones!
We also use a hashtag: #IGGPPCamp By adding that to your tweets, you create a clickable link that allows you to find other Campers, other camp activities, and allows us to find and interact with you, too!
If you simply want to read the live tweet but don’t want to open a Twitter account, you can also check this link and refresh every few minutes to see what’s new!
Where will Camp Activities be on the forums?
We’ve got a dedicated forum for all of our IGGPPCamp activities! You can find it here. Please note that if it is not August 18th yet, the forums will not be accessible to you – they will open once Camp does!
How do I know what supplies to get?
Some of our activities require (or recommend) supplies to take part. The bake-along, for instance, requires ingredients! We’ve got the full list all ready for you in one convenient place so you don’t have to go hunting through each and every activity. Just check out the master Supply List!
How do I know what is happening each day?
There are a couple of ways to find out what’s happening each day of camp. For an overview of each day of the event, check out the Camp Handbook! There will also be Daily Campfire posts in our blog that will have a list of the daily activities and events, as well as links to each place you can find them to make participation easy.
